PET SAFE

A common question in the minds of our customers is whether the plant theyhave fallen in love with will be safe around their pets. Maybe you have a cat that loves to munch on dangling leaves, or a dog who will eat anything they set their eyes on.

Sometimes this can be dangerous, as many plants have defense mechanisms against just such a thing. Certain plants, such as Philodendrons create sharp crystals in the mouths of those who dare to bite them.

Others, such as the Sago Palm (which is not actually a variety of palm) are highly poisonous. Not all plants are harmful though, even if you have a curious pet who may want to assess the flavor of your new plant.

For plants to choose from, there are many options for you.

One potential solution if you fall in love with a plant that is not safe in the vicinity of your pets is simply to put it in a hanging basket! This is a fantastic way to keep both your plants and your pets safe.

If you are curious about how your new plant could affect your pet, The ASPCA website is  a fantastic resource for information on what will be suitable to have around your furry friends.
